OK, I Promise to Really, Really Try This Time (AKA – A Tale of Restarting this Blog for the Third Time)

Hi all.

It’s been a spell, hasn’t it?

In mid 2024, I decided to return to my creative roots, establish my online identity without the need to spend horrendous amounts of money on a blue checkmark on those clunky social media sites. I decided to secure my own name domain, or at least be the first one to do so, if I happen to share my name with about 10 other folks globally.

So here I am again. The last year and a half has proven quite busy, as I work full time for a marketing hosting site and have plenty keeping me busy there. So, starting and maintaining this blog has been a time consuming challenge, but one I feel is beneficial to my health.

My problem is that when I get off work, and seek to fill my time with fun endeavours, I usually end up falling into my old habits, most of them caused by undiagnosed ADHD, where I rewatch the same dozen shows, the same 20 films, over and over again.

Well, that’s where I find myself unhappy, going to bed at night, feeling like I’ve lost time, wasted the day, and didn’t experience anything new.

As I celebrated my 52nd birthday this past March, I realized that it’s time for new experiences, and to share them, all without drowning in the ad-riddled sea of Facebook and Instagram, where I’m literally feeling my IQ lowering by the day.

Honestly, why bother? It’s no longer about community, or sharing thoughts and growing culturally between friends. Now it’s all about the big, scary AI, the latest influencers hoping to cash in by pushing products you don’t care for or never want to hear from again. Then, the algo decides to throw it all back at you, under a different bot name. Ugh. Exhausting.

So, YEAH, I’m taking my time back. If I go to Facebook or Instagram, it’ll be to tell my friends to consider doing the same, joining me in a time when people used to laugh together, and read boos, and live for the moment, when that moment wasn’t a ten-second clip of some inane AI-generated drivel.

I mean yes, cat videos are great, but the whole computer generated media is tiresome, unoriginal and frankly a drain on one’s morale, both emotionally and morally.

So, come visit me here once in a while, won’t you?

Interact, comment, let’s have fun discussions and fruitful chats about this and that!
